What is Heart of the Nation?
Heart of the Nation is an Australian based not-for-profit organisation founded by the
original Yellow Wiggle, Greg Page. After suffering a cardiac arrest and being saved by
an automatic external defibrillator (AED), Greg has sought to drive community
understanding and engagement of the benefits of AEDs as a life-saving tool, including
the establishment of an app-based system that maps AEDs nationwide and connects
victims, responders and AEDs.
Time is of the essence when it comes to responding to Sudden Cardiac Arrest —
knowing where to find an AED and how to use it in these situations could save precious
minutes that can mean the difference between life and death.
By downloading the Heart of the Nation AED Locator app, you’ll be able to see where
the nearest AED is located, enabling you to help through the utilisation or provision of
an AED to someone who is in Cardiac Arrest more quickly than waiting for paramedics
to arrive.
If your business has an AED, you can also get involved by displaying an A5-sized
Heart of the Nation door or window sticker on every entry to your place of business.
This is a sign of your participation in the program, and communities will be able to
quickly identify Heart of the Nation Members who have publicly available AED's, should they need one. If you’d like to volunteer as a Heart of the Nation responder, you can find out more here.
If you have any questions or need extra support, we're here to help you anytime in any language. Simply start a chat with us via the home screen of the Sonder app.
