Motivation is what drives us to roll out of bed and do great things every morning. It's not easy to get motivated, but when you get in that positive headspace where you just feel great and productive, you just want to stay there forever. So with that in mind, we're going to dive into some tips and suggestions on keeping your motivation high and staying positive.

Choose goals that pique your interest

It's tough to stay motivated when you're doing something you have no interest in. If that's the case, work towards something you're genuinely interested in or want to achieve rather than what other people want for you.

Sometimes you may find yourself in a position where you are working towards something that doesn't interest you, try to find something within that task that does motivate you. An example would be something like, "I don't like doing pull ups, but it's going to improve my rock climbing, which is what I enjoy doing," or something akin to, "I really don't want to help my buddy move, but I really want that pizza they promised me if I help, and I really love Italian food - especially pizza."

Keep setting new goals

Once you've achieved your goal, think about what you want to achieve next and start working towards it. It takes a few months to develop a new habit, so if you stop after achieving your current goals then you'll lose all that momentum you've built up and you will have to start from scratch again. Keep in mind to tackle one goal at a time though so it doesn't get too overwhelming.

Bring someone along with you - preferably someone positive

Having someone alongside you for your journey - whether it's to get better at a sport or a skill - helps keep you going as their encouragement and company is a big motivation booster. This is amplified when the aforementioned someone is a positive person, as their optimism will rub off on you and help enhance your mood.

Treat yourself!

We are much more motivated to achieve a goal when there's something to be gained at the end of it other than completing said goal. So make sure to treat yourself to a nice reward whenever you've achieved a goal as this will not only make you feel good but you'll stay motivated to go after your next goal because there's a treat waiting for you.
