Keeping safe over the Christmas period may be more difficult as the number of events ramp up and travel resumes. Plan ahead of time and always be aware of your surroundings to ensure your nights out are stress free.

Getting together with loved ones and attending parties or events can be a great way to end the year on a happy note, but it’s also important to make sure that you're taking your safety into consideration. This can include limiting the amount of alcohol you consume and ensuring you’re aware of when events start and finish. It’s also important to make sure you know how you’re getting home at the end of the night, whether that’s by a taxi, uber, a friend, or a family member picks you up.

It’s also a good idea to carry some emergency cash on you when you’re travelling or when you’re out at night. This ensures that if your card gets lost or doesn’t work, you’ll still be able to have enough money to get yourself home safely.

Plan ahead when you have to travel to a new location, for example, make arrangements for transportation ahead of time. This way you will avoid walking along deserted paths or streets late at night.

If you do find yourself feeling uncomfortable getting from one place to another, you can use Sonder’s 'Track my journey' feature. Or if you’re feeling unsafe in any situation (such as being on date with someone you don't know well), then you can feel less alone by using Sonder’s 'Check on me' feature.
