They might be subtle, but there does tend to be a number of signs that may demonstrate you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts.
These can include verbal and non-verbal indicators.
According to Beyond Blue, some non-verbal cues could include:
social withdrawal
a persistent drop in mood
disinterest in maintaining personal hygiene or appearance
uncharacteristically reckless behaviour
poor diet changes, rapid weight changes
being distracted
anger
insomnia
alcohol or drug abuse
giving away sentimental or expensive possessions

As for indirect, verbal cues, they may include:
hopelessness
failing to see a future
believing they are a burden to others
saying they feel worthless or alone
talking about their death or wanting to die.
It's important to remember that while these points are helpful, they're not always going to apply. Always be guided by your instincts. If you feel as though you or someone close to you is struggling with suicidal thoughts, talk to someone.
You can start by sharing your feelings with someone you trust, or encourage someone else you're worried about to do the same. Otherwise seek help from a professional.
